When the Diablo IV Early Access and open beta weekends took place last month, the team promised that they would sort through all the feedback and data and tell us all more soon. That time has arrived, with a new devblog that breaks down the open beta experience and feedback.
The new blog is called “Diablo IV Open Beta Retrospective: Transforming Feedback into Change”, which should give you an idea of what to expect. To kick things off, though, they gave some insight into their process.
“After the Early Access and Open Beta weekends concluded, the development team read through all your feedback and reviewed gameplay data. Using this information, we have made a variety of fixes and updates to various systems in Diablo IV , all of which will be present in the version of the game that launches on June 6. None of this would be possible without the community’s dedication and love for the Diablo universe, to which we say THANK YOU!”
So what are these changes? They received a lot of feedback about dungeons, with the layouts making players feel like they were doing a ton of backtracking, so they're going to optimize a number of dungeons to minimize some of that backtracking. Feedback they got on the various classes are leading to tweaks that adjust some of the skills, some of the effects, and even reworked the Sorcerer more than just a few tweaks, balancing some of that class’ powers better.
There are a number of changes to encounters, including the Butcher. That boss, along with several others, like T’chort, Malnok, and Vhenard, were reevaluated for difficulty. There are a number of changes to things like sellers, bug fixes, and some quality of life tweaks too.
