Tekken 8 will feature crossplay, according to the game’s director Katsuhiro Harada.
Harada, who has worked on the franchise for almost 30 years, replied to a fan on Twitter who asked if the game will have crossplay between platforms.
“Crossplay? Of course, I will,” he wrote.
Harada also claimed that he tried to get crossplay working during the Xbox One and PS4 era.
“When the previous generation consoles were released, I had already proposed crossplay between the two platformers,” he said.
“However, at that time, they were at odds with each other over their mutual interests (and P2P security issue) and repeatedly refused.”
Harada then went on to tweet that while there are “still some problems left,” with implementing crossplay, it will be implemented in the game.
“Remember when they announced they were open to crossplay a few years ago?” Harada tweeted. “But in reality, they didn’t actively support third parties at the time, and the hurdles were actually quite high. There are still some problems left, but it will be possible.”
