This may come as a surprise, but the creators of famous fighting game franchises don't exclusively play their own games. Some, like Tekken game director Katsuhiro Harada and Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boone play both franchises enough to even have their own favorites.
A few days ago, Harada answered a fan on Twitter who asked which Mortal Kombat character was his favorite. "Raiden of course," Harada wrote back, offering some additional wisdom along with his personal pick.

"On the other hand, are there any MK fans who don't like Raiden? If someone like that exists, it's like saying, 'I love hamburgers, but I hate meat and veggies, so I only eat buns.'"
Fast-forward to today when another Twitter user quoted Harada and asked Ed Book who his favorite Tekken character was. His answer: "Hwoarang of course!" Boon followed his statement with the hashtag #DontAskMeForShit, which has been Harada's calling card ever since he wore a shirt with those exact words on the front.
Hwoarang has been in every Tekken game since 3 but still hasn't shown up in a gameplay trailer for Tekken 8. The South Korean native is a Taekwondo master, a former street hustler for underground fighting rings, and a former service member of the South Korean military. While not exactly a meta pic in Tekken 7, Hwoarang has quite a few sweeping kicks and his Flamingo stance can really trip up opponents thanks to its odd timing. Hwoarang also has an ongoing rivalry with Jin, who is confirmed for Tekken 8.
