DC's full June 2023 solicitations have landed, and the heat of summer means that 'Dawn of DC,' the publisher's ongoing initiative to freshen up its line of superhero comics with new titles and new concepts is heating up as well.
Earlier in March, DC announced a number of brand new titles launching as part of 'Dawn of DC.' First up, there's Steelworks, a new title featuring Superman's ally John Henry Irons, AKA Steel, and his niece and successor in the role Natasha Irons. The title is written by beloved Star Trek actor Michael Dorn, who also voiced Steel on the '90s Superman: The Animated Series, with art from Sami Basri.
Then, two long running classic DC titles will come to an end in June to relaunch later this year. Flash will end with June's oversized #800, which brings in several classic Flash writers including Geoff Johns, Joshua Williamson, Jeremy Adams, and Mark Waid. Flash will then relaunch in September with a new creative team of writer Si Spurrier and artist Mike Deodato Jr.
Likewise, Wonder Woman #800 will bring an end to the title's current volume with an oversized finale issue. The title will then relaunch in September alongside The Flash, with the creative team of writer Tom King and artist Daniel Sampere.
June also marks Pride Month, which DC is celebrating with a DC Pride 2023 one-shot which features a Multiversity story written by Grant Morrison. There's also a new encyclopedic look at the queer heroes of DC titled The Book of DC Pride, and a collection of several classic stories featuring queer characters.
