Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Warns Players About Racist Content
Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection features a disclaimer at the start that notes that some of the games have "cases of insensitive cultural depictions".
After laying dormant for close to two decades, Mega Man Battle Network is finally back thanks to the Legacy Collection that just launched a few days ago. Not only does the collection contain all of the mainline Battle Network games, but it also adds online multiplayer, voiced interactions from a 3D version of MegaMan.exe on the title screen, and a Buster Max mode. One thing you might not expect the Legacy Collection to include, however, is the racist and misogynistic views of the era.

And yet, that's exactly what Capcom has decided to do. As pointed out by ResetEra user Jawmuncher, the Legacy Collection opens up with a disclaimer that warns players that some of the content presented in the games is "insensitive", but that it's been kept the same to preserve the collection's "authenticity".
The disclaimer reads, "Capcom values diversity and inclusivity within its games and its community. Please be aware the games in this collection may contain some cases of insensitive cultural depictions that are presented as originally created to preserve their authenticity". As pointed out by several people on the ResetEra thread, it's a remarkably similar message to what Warner Bros. used to display in front of their legacy cartoons.
