Starfield players might have completed the game by now and are waiting for the next major update to bring new features. Likewise, fans are waiting for Bethesda to deliver the first expansion for the game, adding exciting new storylines, characters, and even locations. But for some fans, it’s the hope that Bethesda would look at some of the scrapped features and bring them back into the game. For instance, fans are calling for the arrival of a survival mode, giving players a bit more challenge as they explore the various worlds.
Thanks to Dexerto, we’re finding out about a Reddit thread gaining some attention. One fan took to the Starfield subreddit and brought up a previous interview Bethesda’s Todd Howard did. Previously, Todd Howard made mention of some cut features that didn’t make it to the finalized product. For instance, one of those cut features was fuel consumption when players traveled from planet to planet. Now, you can still see where your ship can and can’t take you within the map system. You’ll have to maneuver around different pathways to make jumps.
However, at one point, there was a system where you had to focus on your fuel; otherwise, you would be stuck somewhere. This ended up being scrapped as the developers found the system to be too harsh for casual players. But now that the game is out, some call for this feature to be added alongside a survival mode. Comments within the thread revealed various ideas on where systems can be placed or even evidence of systems that were later scrapped.
Examples given are food perks, and consuming food seems to be aimed at keeping your vitals up within the game. It’s expected that this system was being considered by developers before also being scrapped. Another point of interest is making use of various clutter within the game.
