What difficulty mode should you choose in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor? Respawn Entertainment has carried over its Dark Souls-lite approach from Jedi: Fallen Order into the sequel, and so the difficulty is a slightly more important talking point here compared to other action-adventure games. As part of our Star Wars Jedi: Survivor guide, we're going to reveal what difficulty mode you should choose.
The difficulty in the game is tied to combat and nothing else. Accessibility options in the pause menu can make other aspects in the game easier for you, and are not tied to difficulty modes. There are 5 difficulty modes in the game:
All five can be chosen for your first playthrough and dictate the following aspects: Parry Timing, Incoming Damage, and Enemy Aggression. The harder the difficulty mode you select is, your parry timing will need to be more accurate, you will take more damage from enemy attacks, and they'll try and hurt you more often. There are no difficulty-related Trophies in the game, so you don't need to pick a certain difficulty mode if you want the Platinum Trophy.
As a general rule of thumb, we would always recommend starting your first playthrough on the standard difficulty: Jedi Knight. As the option in the middle of the five difficulty modes, it's usually the one the game is mostly balanced around, and so you'll get just the right amount of challenge and satisfaction. Since you can change the difficulty in the pause menu at any time, though, feel free to do so if you're finding things too hard or easy. Jedi Padawan makes parrying easier while reducing the damage dealt by less aggressive enemies. On the other hand, Jedi Master will make those three elements slightly harder.
What we definitely don't recommend
