Stalker 2 dev claims its been victim of Russian hack
pcgamesinsider.bizUkrainian developer GSC Game World of Stalker fame has said that it has been hacked by a Russian group.
In a post on Twitter, the studio said that the application it uses for working with images was breached by "a community from a Russian social network." Said group is apparently trying to blackmail and intimidate GSC Game World, though the developer says it is nonplused by these threats.
"We are a Ukrainian company, and like most Ukrainians, we have experienced many things that are much more terrifying: destroyed houses, ruined lives and the deaths of our loved ones," the GSC Game World team wrote.
"Attempts to blackmail or intimidate us are completely futile.
"Our unwavering commitment to supporting our country remains unchanged – we will continue to do everything possible to support Ukraine. And this won't change in the future under any circumstances.
"Despite the attempts to break us, we remain strong and courageous. Because when you believe in something and love it with all your heart, you have to defend it at all costs."
The hack means it is likely that in-development footage or images from the upcoming Stalker 2 might make it into the wild. GSC Game World has asked that fans simply ignore this in the event this happens.
"We'd like to express our deepest appreciation for our loyal community," the studio continued. "We are overwhelmed by the response and support we have received from you."
