HBO teased an emotional first look at Spring Awakening: Those You've Known in the documentary's full trailer. Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater's coming-of-age musical first rocked onto the great white way in 2006. Based on Frank Wedekind's 1891 German play of the same name, Spring Awakening spotlights adolescent struggles to fit into society. The original production received eight Tony Awards, four Drama Desk Awards, and even a Grammy. It was also a star vehicle for veteran talents like Jonathan Groff (Frozen), Lea Michele (Glee), Skylar Astin (Zoe's Extraordinary Playlist), and more.
Fifteen years after the smash-hit run of Spring Awakening, the original cast and creative team came together for a sold-out one-night-only reunion concert. Documentary filmmaker Michael John Warren (Oh, Hello on Broadway) also joined the production to give a behind-the-scenes look at the special event. HBO released the official trailer for the documentary, providing a glimpse at the emotional ride it will take viewers on. Watch the full trailer below:
