On May 23, official Call of Duty channels released a video confirming the official release date of the title, which is set to release later this year.
In addition to confirming the release date, this video also confirmed and showcased the key characters that will feature prominently within the campaign of Modern Warfare 2. While many characters outlined in the video will be familiar to long-term fans of the franchise, there was one in particular that has not been seen before: Colonel Alejandro Vargas.

Given the acclaim for 2019's Modern Warfare, it is fair to say that news of a sequel has been met with joy by many fans of the franchise. Fortunately fans have been provided a release date for the game, but most of the finer details concerning Modern Warfare 2 are still up to speculation.
It is rumored, however, that Modern Warfare 2 is set to run on a brand-new game engine, with it is being safe to assume that it will take inspiration from the same visceral IW engine that was used in 2019's Modern Warfare, with a focus on high fidelity and accurate sound design.
