Nintendo launches update 7.1.0 for Splatoon 3, which addresses a long list of bugs to various game modes including Side Order, as well as tweaking Salmon Run and the upcoming Splatfest. Originally launching in September 2022, Splatoon 3 continues to prove itself as one of the fastest selling games on the Nintendo Switch. Splatoon 3 not only became Japan's best-selling game in 2022, but over the first three months, it also flew by 10 million copies sold worldwide.
As the game slowly approaches its second anniversary later in 2024, part of the success of Splatoon 3 has been Nintendo's continued support of the title, both through smaller updates and events like community-driven Splatfests, while also supporting the game with premium content. Though DLC updates, Splatoon 3 has added a roguelite mode called Side Order, while also bringing back popular elements from past games in the franchise, like the hub world of Inkopolis. Nintendo also continues to release new patches for the game, with the latest one bringing a laundry list of bug fixes.
Revealing the details of Update 7.1.0 on their support site, Splatoon 3 players can now download the latest patch for the online shooter. The biggest piece of this update centers on fixes lingering bugs that are impacting numerous activities in Splatoon 3 especially the latest DLC Side Order. In fact, while inside Side Order's Spire of Order the music could suddenly stop playing, or the point calculation screen could display a higher number than what was actually earned, or other odd behaviors. In fact, the update contains a fix for a Splatoon 3 player reported problem where once the Side Order story was completed, a communication error appeared and prevented the end cutscene from playing entirely.
