Spider-Man 2 Map 'Roughly Twice the Size', Adds Queens and Brooklyn | Push Square
Insomniac Games has revealed the map for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will be «roughly twice the size» of the one in Marvel's Spider-Man and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, with new districts like Queens and Brooklyn included in the PS5 sequel. In addition, the studio has teased new activities to complete in the open world like «battles using the river that runs between the neighbourhoods».
From a new interview with Famitsu, creative director Brian Intihar explained: «We've added Queens and Brooklyn to the map, which makes it roughly twice the size of our previous work. These two neighbourhoods are a bit smaller and more residential, so they have a different charm than Manhattan. We have prepared some unexpected situations that we have never seen before, such as battles using the river that runs between the neighbourhoods, so please look forward to them.»
Having both Peter Parker and Miles Morales playable with a set of abilities that allow them to traverse the open world much faster, it makes sense to expand the play space to accommodate those skills. Although, it sounds like you'll want to set aside the web-slinging for a time to explore Queens and Brooklyn on foot to soak in their unique atmosphere. It'll also help you can switch between Peter and Miles at any time, presumably introducing different dialogue and reactions to what they see.
