Before the release of Spider-Man 2, we found out that Insomniac included an optional fall damage toggle to add a little bit more danger and realism to swinging around New York. There were a few complaints at the time, with some worried that it might be a little too frustrating. All those worries seem to have faded now the game has released though, as fans are beginning to realize how funny it is watching Peter and Miles bounce off the concrete after jumping from the top of a skyscraper.
Head on over to Twitter and you'll find countless videos of players either accidentally slamming Peter or Miles into a car or building, or deliberately jumping from the top of the Avengers Tower just to see what happens. Most of them are rather funny, having Peter or Miles hit the floor and their body bounce around and land in a rather unnatural positions, while some have the poor Spider-Man in question crumple into a horrific shape, only to get back up again with their suit in tatters.

For the most part, this new addition of fall damage appears to be going down down a treat. It's definitely a feature that harkens back to the sillier Spider-Man games, especially Spider-Man: Web of Shadows with its ridiculous QTE cutscenes, and the excellent Spider-Man 2 game for the PS2, which was considered to be the best Spidey had to offer before Insomniac came around.
In fact, some people are asking Insomniac to go even further with the fall damage for the next game.
