With today’s update, Lost Ark’s promised Chaos Gate revamp is here. The new format merges Chaos Gates, Ghost Ships, and Treasure Maps, and will test challengers with waves of demons and a few bosses to defeat.
In order to take part, you can enter from each continent by interacting with a gate, and queuing for matchmaking. Matchmaking is regional, with 4-16 players per challenge. As with other content that resets, the Chaos Gates will also reset daily at 10 AM. Once you're in, prepare to fight off hordes of demons in waves and three bosses.
Every time you defeat a boss, you'll get special combat buffs that will increase your attack speed and decrease cooldown times. Defeat all three bosses after loads of demon waves, to walk away with rewards like Honor Shards, Honing Support materials, Legendary Engraving Recipe, cards, Gems, and currency.
One of the Demon Legions will appear. While battling, there will be at least one element made to increase difficulty, like orbs to debuff player damage from the Phantom Legion boss. Each of the four options come with their own debuff. While there are three bosses per standard Chaos Gate challenge, there is a chance that after the last boss goes down, you might get a surprise hidden boss. The difficulty will scale by item level and number of participants.
With this new format, there are additional changes in the update that removed achievements, drops, and some of the quest content that involved Ghost Ships or treasure maps. The quest modifications and involved replacement of some mokoko challenge missions. With the overhaul, information about the continent and where the gates are and how they work will also be updated in the UI.
