French publishing giant Ubisoft has pulled advertising from the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
That's according to Axios, which reports that the company is one of many firms removing marketing from the service. Other companies include Apple, Disney and IBM. Ubisoft confirmed its decision in a statement in which it said it was putting ads on hold.
"We did have a campaign running," a Ubisoft spokesperson said. "We paused advertising on X."
Said campaign was for the upcoming VR title, Assassin's Creed Nexus and had apparently been seen over ten million times
This follows allegations of antisemitism levelled against X, formerly Twitter's CEO Elon Musk after he backed an antisemitic post last. The exec denies being antisemitic.
It also comes alongside a report from non-profit Media Matters, which shows adverts from companies such as Apple, IBM and Amazon appearing alongside far-right posts. Musk is now saying that Media Matters engaged in fraud and Texas' Attorney General is – rather pointlessly, given that Media Matters is based in DC – opening an investigation into the matter.
