Last week, a ransomware group hacked Insomniac Games and demanded $2 million in Bitcoin, otherwise they threatened to sell the data. The leak has now been made public, revealing the studio's slate of games up until 2032 along with key plot details and gameplay footage for Wolverine.
Insomniac aims to launch its turn at the gruff-clawed Canadian in 2026, paving the way for an X-Men game in 2030. As such, the cast is stacked with mutants. The leak reveals that Leech, Davina, Tyger Tiger, Mystique, Callisto, Omega Red, Sunfire, Sabretooth, Mr. Sinister, Jean Grey, Sasquatch, and Deathstrike will join Wolverine for Insomniac's first big superhero outing away from Spider-Man.
According to the leaks, Liam McIntyre (Gears of War 4, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, The Flash TV series) will play Wolverine.
The gameplay footage is in its very early stages as we're still at least three years out from release, but one clip shows Wolverine scaling a wall to climb through a window into an apartment for an investigation.
He has Spider-Sense-like abilities, sniffing scents to unravel his lost memory and focusing his hearing to find audio signals. It's a lot like Geralt puzzling together the scene of a monster attack in The Witcher 3.
There's also test footage of Wolverine crouching, riding a motorbike (while fighting on it), and kicking objects into enemies.
The plot will follow Wolverine and Jean Gray, two begrudging allies, as they fall in love while working to stop Mr. Sinister and Team X from hurting innocent mutants, hence the cast of familiar Marvel favourites.
Wolverine will also go toe-to-toe with The Reavers and The Hand. So, that 'Daredevil' tease found in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was actually for Logan.
