Earlier this month, Fortnite released an update that made movement animations less than a second slower, but that was enough to spark enormous backlash. One dev, celebrating the overhaul, was met with a non-stop wave of harassment that ultimately led to him being doxxed, with demands from players that he be fired. Following all of this outrage, Epic Games has now slightly increased the movement speed.
As shown by Hypex in the below clip, running and crouching speeds have been made faster, with less camera movement to make the view smoother. Your custom diagonal movement has also been reset, so everyone will now have to re-adjust their settings with the new speeds in place.
The movement update also applies to Save the World, so you can experience the new animations and accompanying speed while fending off hoards of zombies.
However, there are still plenty of people complaining that it's too slow, calling on Epic Games to revert the changes completely and bring back the old animations. In reality, it just looks slower - side-by-side comparisons show little difference.
"Fortnite managed to make it even worse than it already was," one user replied. "What on god's green earth is this", said another. "They made it worse, bring the old one back", a third player demanded.
Others, however, argue that Epic Games should have left the new animations and speed alone after the update due to the doxxing of a developer.
"They shouldn't have changed anything," @DaPizzaNeko said. "People shouldn't get what they want after doxxing a dude."
