Warbands in World of Warcraft: The World Within make reputation account-wide, but not every faction will be included in it right away. While World of Warcraft might eventually make all reputation shared across every character, The War Within will only be adding this particular feature for the expansion’s new factions to begin with.
Though The War Within adds tons of new stuff to World of Warcraft, one of the most highly-anticipated features is Warbands. More a group of smaller features under a single banner rather than an individual one, Warbands seek to make almost everything in World of Warcraft shared account-wide, including achievement progress, currencies, and reputation.
However, Warbands' reputation change won’t be what many players expect right away. All new factions in The War Within and beyond will share their reputation levels across all characters on a single account. That said, WoW content creator MrGM clarified that older factions will not be included in this feature immediately. While World of Warcraft hopes to make legacy reputations account-wide eventually, they will still be character-specific as of the World of Warcraft: The War Within’s pre-patch and launch.
There are numerous roadblocks in the way to making old reputation levels account-wide in World of Warcraft. Many players have different reputation levels on multiple characters spread across several worlds. What’s more, some factions are diametrically opposed to one another, such as Booty Bay and the Bloodsail Buccaneers from Vanilla and the Aldor and Scryers from The Burning Crusade, which would make account-wide reputation complicated. Even so, World of Warcraft seems to want to make this change happen, so fans can expect most reputations to become account-wide eventually, likely starting with the Dragonflight Renown factions.
