In case you missed it, there have been a lot of reports recently about Xbox exclusives being ported over to rival platforms. The latest of these rumours concerns one of Microsoft's biggest franchises, the third-person shooter series Gears of War, which is apparently being considered for a port to PlayStation.
This comes from Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb, known for weighing in on hot topics with some degree of insider information. Speaking on his usual show, he says Gears of War is one he's heard is «definitely under consideration», stressing that this doesn't necessarily mean it's going to happen.
As mentioned, it joins a growing list of Xbox-only franchises that are said to be making the leap to other consoles. This all got started with rumours about Hi-Fi Rush, which has since looked more likely with mounting evidence. Since then, we've heard reports from various sources saying Starfield, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and more are being considered for ports.
It's also been reported that Microsoft had been planning to address this change in strategy later this month, but because of all this gossip, it may be forced to put out a statement sooner rather than later. While these are all still just rumours for now, the sheer quantity of them must surely be leading to something.
Having grown up alongside PlayStation, Stephen has developed an eclectic taste in video games and a wide knowledge of the medium, from small indie gems to the biggest AAA blockbusters. Ever hopeful that the Burnout series makes a miraculous return.
