Stellar Blade’s big re-reveal during last week’s State of Play focused on its English dub, with many fans commenting they’d prefer to play the game in either Japanese or its native Korean. Speaking with developer Shift Up during an interview earlier today, we quizzed Game Director Hyung-Tae Kim on this topic.

“The game offers a total of 22 different languages, and nine voiceover dubbings,” he told us. “The user can freely select from these options. But we do have to tell you that the Japanese voices will only be available in Japan. The Japanese text will be available, but it’s the voiceover that won’t be. This is due to the voice actors, as they’ll only be available in the Japanese region.”
The good news is that the original Korean dub will be available worldwide, and according to Technical Director Dong-Gi Lee, this is one of three languages that will feature fully lip-synced animations. “English, Japanese, and Korean all have lip-synced animations, so the users will get to experience more natural voiceovers,” he said.
We weren’t overly fond of the English voices in last week’s trailer, and considering the character designs and origins of the title, we reckon it’ll be best in Korean. Still, it’s a shame the Japanese voices are tied up in contractual red tape, although it’s probably worth noting the PS5 is region-free, so you could technically import a copy from Japan if that’s important to you.

Probably gonna play it in Korean. Theres not a lot of games made where the language isn’t either English or Japanese, so that seems like something that’ll give it a bit more uniqueness
I didn't mind the English VO too much myself but I do think I will go with Korean VO anyway. Just kind of fits the vibe of the game a bit more.
