Marvel’s Venom is Insomniac Next Game For 2025, Followed By Marvel’s Wolverine, Spider-Man 3 And X-Men
Insomniac Games seems to be going all-in with Marvel licensed games, as many of the studio's next titles will be based on popular comic book properties.
According to documents that leaked online following a recent ransomware attack, the next game from the developer will be Marvel's Venom, which will release during Fall 2025, and will be similar in scope to Spider-Man: Miles Morales with three playable characters and a story that will lead into the Spider-Man 3, followed by the already announced Wolverine in Fall 2026, Spider-Man 3 in Fall 2028, which could be split into two parts and even have a multiplayer component, and X-Men in 2030. Breaking the pattern of Marvel games will be a new Ratchet & Clank title that will release during Fall 2029 and a new IP expected to launch in 2031, 2032, which are currently supported by smaller R&D teams. Being so far off in the future, release windows are likely to change, although the information is quite recent, as the slide detailing these future titles is dated July 2023.
Given Marvel's Spider-Man success, it is not surprising to see Insomniac Games focusing on licensed titles. Hopefully, these games' quality will be as high as that of those released so far, although Spider-Man 2 played it a little too safe, as highlighted by Alessio in his review.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 feels like the perfect, albeit safe, evolution of the formula first introduced with the 2018 game. With a highly emotional story, much-improved traversal, great visuals and performance, and industry-leading accessibility, this sequel is very likely to win over most fans of the original. However, a bigger shake-up may be needed for the inevitable Spider-Man 3.
