CD Projekt Red has announced a Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will be released on December 5, 2023.
This edition is much like a Game of the Year or Complete Edition product, granting players access to Cyberpunk 2077's expansion Phantom Liberty and the main game all in one package. It will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC.
A physical edition for consoles wil also mark the first time Cyberpunk 2077 comes packaged under current generation banners, with only a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version of the game available physically previously. The Ultimate Edition will not be released for those consoles, however, as Phantom Liberty wasn't either.
All of CD Projekt Red's previous updates to the game will of course be included too, essentially making the Ultimate Edition a one stop shop for the complete Cyberpunk 2077 experience. Though scathed at launch for its poor performance on consoles, the developer has since turned Cyberpunk 2077 around and the game had sold 25 million copies as of October 2023.
Phantom Liberty arrived September 26, with Update 2.0 laying its foundation a few days earlier. It completely revamped Cyberpunk 2077 with features such as a new perk system and improved AI and also brought closure to an Elon Musk fan theory, a reference to the late racing legend Ken Block, and bizarre additions to the game's biggest mystery.
In our 9/10 review of the expansion, IGN said: "Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty completes an immense turnaround for CD Projekt Red's future RPG kickstarted with the anime spin-off, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and its latest 2.0 Update."
