Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty DLC Has Sold 4.3 Million Copies In Two Months
Since launching in late September, the first and only DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 has sold 4.3 million copies in just two months, according to CD Projekt Red's latest earnings report.
The report, and accompanying video, lays out the updated sales figures, with CFO Piotr Nielubowicz stating that the 4.3 million figures include sales from this past weekend. To put it into context, «every fifth owner» of the base version of Cyberpunk 2077 across PC and next-gen consoles now owns Phantom Liberty.
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty adds a whole new region to the Night City map, Dogtown, as well as a spy-thriller storyline that runs parallel to the events of the base game. The lead-up to Phantom Liberty also saw a total revamp of the base game, which was free for all players on Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, and PC. This 2.0 update greatly improved large areas of the gameplay, including better police AI, a streamlined and better skill tree, and more.
While the report didn't get too specific into a numbers breakdown, it seems most of the sales occurred on PC, with Nielubowicz stating Steam as the «bulk of the expansion's sales.»
Cyberpunk 2007 is seeing an additional release next week, as CDPR have packaged both the DLC expansion and base game into a single offering: Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition. While if you own the game and Phantom Liberty already this won't really mean much, it's an easy way for those who have been waiting for the best time to finally jump into Night City to do so.
