Sons of the Forest is a smash hit already, reaching 253,509 players only a few hours after launch, but at the same time, Steam started going down. 2,896 people filed reports of outages one hour from launch - maybe it's a coincidence, or maybe Sons of the Forest is just that powerful.
As reported by Games Radar, the community is taking this as a win, with one Reddit post dubbing it the great "Sons of the Forest Steam Outage of 2023". Not only were players running into issues with Steam going down, but others couldn't add it to their cart - is it really a win if you can't even play the game you're celebrating?

As one commenter pointed out, it might be a joint effort between Sons of the Forest and Company of Heroes 3, both of which skyrocketed to the top three best sellers in one day. SotF (not to be confused with Scholar of the First Sin) is number one, dethroning the Steam Deck, while CoH 3 has shot up to third, just behind the Steam Deck.
While some couldn't add it to their baskets and others couldn't get in to play it, even if they did own it, others found that it hadn't been released yet, with it still being unavailable to buy. Those who did get in went to the comments to brag and make others jealous. However, it seems to have been fixed, so everyone should be able to spend their Friday night in the dark with cannibals.
While things are running smoothly now, Kerbal Space Program 2 drops today, and Destiny 2's new expansion arrives next Tuesday.
