The Front is set in an alternate reality «post-apocalyptic sandbox» filled with mutants, including killer clowns, as seen in the debut trailer that GameSpot can reveal exclusively. Players are fighting against an evil empire that's bent on changing humankind.

The surviving members of humanity's resistance are hoping to use time travel technology to return to the past and correct the course of history,» reads a line from the game's description.
