Gameplay from a new Sonic game has seemingly leaked online, alongside its apparent title, Sonic Toys Party. If the gameplay is real, then it confirms that previous rumours were right, and the upcoming Sonic game will play an awful lot like Fall Guys.
This comes from a leaked Japanese trailer for Sonic Toys Party, which also confirms that it will be a mobile release. In brief gameplay sequences, we see players racing across Sonic-themed obstacle courses, all based on levels from the mainline games. However, unlike Fall Guys, Sonic Toys Party also features enemies from the Sonic series, with combat straight out of the 3D platformers.
Sonic Toys Party looks set to feature a range of different gameplay mechanics, whether it's attacking enemies, dodging their attacks, or making your way through various obstacles. While the Fall Guys comparisons are inevitable - it's a race to the end with a whole lot of other players - it looks like there's enough here to differentiate itself from Mediatonic's own battle royale.
The trailer was initially leaked by YouTuber The Sonic Show before it was spread across social media. The Sonic Show has also provided a full breakdown of what we can see in the trailer, pointing out that there are different game modes, and what appears to be a battle pass.
With how far along in development the game appears to be in this trailer, it wouldn't be a surprise to see it launch later this year. That is, of course, if it's real, as Sega still hasn't commented on the rumours and leaks. With that being said, this would have to be a very elaborate hoax at this point, and we already know that Sega wants to release more mobile games, so this fits in with its strategy.
