Star Wars Outlaws will hit the market on August 30 following a short early access period. Ubisoft itself accidentally leaked the game's release date while making preparations to debut the Star Wars Outlaws story trailer on April 9.
The much-anticipated title has been in the making since 2021, when Ubisoft and Disney reached an agreement over the project just as EA's decade-long exclusivity deal to make Star Wars games was coming to an end. Star Wars Outlaws was officially unveiled in June 2023 with a lengthy cinematic.
Another Star Wars Outlaws trailer is scheduled to drop later today, April 9, at 12pm ET. Although Ubisoft has been coy about whether the promo would include the game's long-awaited release date announcement, the company ended up answering that question prematurely and inadvertently. Namely, the original description of the trailer's YouTube Premiere published by Ubisoft Japan bluntly stated that Star Wars Outlaws will be released on August 30.
Fans who buy either the Gold or Ultimate Edition of the game will get to play it three days early, as per the same source. Neither of those versions have yet been officially announced, so their pricing, content, and other details are currently unclear. Based on the company's recent track record, it is plausible that Ubisoft+ Premium subscribers will also get to participate in the early access period, as they are likely to be able to access the game's Ultimate Edition as part of their membership perks.
The unwittingly expansive trailer description was redacted by Ubisoft Japan within minutes of going live in the early morning hours ET on April 9. Shortly thereafter, the company took down the YouTube Premiere itself, but not before the prematurely shared release date started making the rounds on social media. The video description also confirmed that Star Wars Outlaws will feature an expansion pass, albeit without elaborating on its contents.
