Paramount Pictures has released a new TV spot teasing the ultimate showdown between Sonic and Knuckles. The sequel will arrive in theaters on April 8, 2022.
“After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero,” reads the official synopsis. “His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.”

The movie stars James Marsden (Westworld), Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) as the voice of Sonic, Tika Sumpter (Ride Along), Natasha Rothwell (Wonder Woman 1984), Adam Pally (The Mindy Project), and Jim Carrey (Kidding) returning, alongside new additions Shemar Moore (), with Idris Elba () as the voice of Knuckles, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey () as the voice of Tails.
Directed by Jeff Fowler, writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller, with Neal H. Mortiz, Toby Ascher, and Toru Nakahara are all returning to produce while Hajime Satomi, Haruki Satomi, and Tim Miller will return to executive produce.
