A brand new poster for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 pokes fun at the upcoming DCEU release The Batman. The long-gestating live-action Sonic the Hedgehog was delayed even further by a complete revamping of the design of the lead character after it was vehemently rejected by social media following the release of the original trailer. The sequel, which reteams director Jeff Fowler with screenwriters Pat Casey and Josh Miller (adding The Lego Batman Movie's John Whittington), is set to premiere in theaters on April 8, 2022. Along with returning characters including the speedy hedgehog Sonic (Ben Schwartz), the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey), and Sonic's human companions Tom (James Marsden) and Maddie (Tika Sumpter), the film will bring two additional characters from the Sonic video game to life: Tails, voiced by Colleen O'Shaughnessey, and Knuckles, voiced by Idris Elba.
