Carrying on something of a series tradition, Sega has announced some new free that fans can grab to celebrate the holiday season.
The new content is a costume for Sonic himself that gives the hedgehog a festive outfit that looks similar to Santa Claus’ clothes. The costume is already available to download on all consoles and is free to purchase. To use it, players simply have to choose Sonic on the game‘s character select menu and then press right or left to go through their available costumes.
You can take a look at the new Sonic Superstars costume DLC below:
The game is now available physically and digitally on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Sonic Superstars lets you play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose, while Eggman is accompanied by Fang the Sniper, who first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble in 1994. The character has primarily appeared in cameo roles in games like Sonic Generations and Sonic Mania in the years since.
Sonic Superstars isn’t the first game in the series to get holiday DLC. The first two Sonic Adventure games on the Sega Dreamcast each received cosmetic holiday DLC, as did Sonic Frontiers just last year. There was even a Christmas-themed Sonic television special back in 1996, titled Sonic: Christmas Blast.
