As part of the monthly IGN First game overview, CAPCOM has released new Dragon's Dogma 2 gameplay footage centered on the Trickster class (or vocation, as they are called in this franchise). The Trickster was briefly shown in a previous video, but this is a much longer dive into the class. First of all, here's the official description from the Dragon's Dogma 2 website:
A vocation exclusive to the Arisen, the Trickster can conjure illusions through the smoke created by its unique weapon, the Censer. Tricksters can use illusions to deceive enemies into fighting against their own. They also have the ability to temporarily increase the power of Pawns beyond their limits.
According to IGN, the Trickster is 'unlike anything you've ever seen in an open world action game'. Its signature weapon, the Censer, reportedly deals little to no damage to enemies. However, it succeeds in grabbing the attention of the monsters, then redirecting it to a clone that can be teleported to the player. But there's more: the Trickster can conjure Tricky Terrace, which leads enemies to see solid ground where there is none. Conversely, Elusive Divider summons a smoke wall the enemies can't see through. Finally, the class can create an astral projection that can be used to scout ahead or, again, to lead enemies into a trap.
The whole theme is, as suggested by the vocation's name, to misdirect enemies while they are taken down with the help of the environment and/or the player character's Pawns deal the real damage. The Trickster can also buff the party with Aromatic Resurgence, increasing their damage for a time, or summon a draconic illusion that strikes fear into enemies, bringing them to their knees for an easy kill.
