Netflix has finally released the full trailer for its highly-anticipated survival drama about the real-life story of the 1972 Andes plane crash. The film debuts in select theaters this December, followed by its Netflix release on January 4, 2024.
The video highlights the harsh cold environment and grueling challenges that a group of friends and their family will have to endure to survive. The film had its world premiere at the 2023 Venice International Film Festival. It has also been selected to become Spain’s official entry for the Best International Film category at the 2024 Academy Awards.

“In 1972, Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, which had been chartered to fly a rugby team to Chile, crashed in the heart of the Andes,” reads the synopsis. “Only 29 of its 45 passengers survived the accident. Trapped in one of the most hostile and inaccessible environments on the planet, they have to resort to extreme measures to stay alive.”
Society of the Snow is directed by J.A. Bayona from a screenplay he co-wrote with Bernat Vilaplana, Jaime Marques, and Nicolás Casariego. It is based on the memoir by Pablo Vierci, who was one of the survivors that was rescued. The film stars Enzo Vogrincic, Agustín Pardella, Matías Recalt, Esteban Bigliardi, Diego Vegezzi, Fernando Contigiani García, Esteban Kukuriczka, Rafael Federman, Francisco Romero, Valentino Alonso, Tomás Wolf, Agustín Della Corte, Felipe Otaño, Andy Pruss, Blas Polidori, Felipe Ramusio, and Simón Hempe.
The film is produced by Bayona, Belén Atienza, and Sandra Hermida, with Vierci serving as an associate producer. The creative team consists of production designer Alain Bainée, cinematographer Pedro Luque
