Ubisoft has announced one final open beta test for the upcoming piratical adventures of Skull and Bones, as well as detailing year 1 of their post-launch roadmap.
Before the full release on 16th February (with three days early access via Ubisoft+ from 13th Feb), all and sundry will be able to join an open beta for Skull and Bones from 8th to 11th February. The open beta will be available across PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Budding pirates will be thrown into the opening of the game, with their progress limited to reaching an Infamy Cap of Tier 6, halting their progression. However, you’ll earn five exclusive rewards for taking part, and your progress will carry over to the full game, so this gives you a bit of a head-start.
That’s pre-launch, but what about post-launch? Ubisoft has also shared a look at the endgame and year 1 roadmap of content.
Once you’ve passed through Skull and Bones’ main story at launch, you’ll reach the endgame with Ubisoft ratcheting up the challenges and stakes that you’ll face. Instead of working for Kingpins, you’ll be aiming to take them down and build a full empire for yourself. Take control of The Helm, and you’ll build your own smuggling empire, control manufacturing, exploit trade routes, and more. Alongside this will be Legendary Heists and Hostile Takeover activities, with new endgame activities added each season.
There will also be PvP battles with missions like Helm Wagers and Cutthroat Cargo, which will put a mark on your head until you reach a target outpost.
The year will be split into four seasons where you’ll then take aim and face off against the legendary Pirate Lords like Philippe La Peste, the Hubac Twins and more through seasons of post-launch content. By this point you’ll be experienced enough and kitted out that you can employ specific ship loadouts and seasonal ships and gear to take them out with a climactic showdown at the end of each season.
We went hands on with Skull and Bones with its last closed beta in December and
