Bloober Team’s president is unhappy with the latest Silent Hill 2 remake trailer, saying it’s not an accurate representation of the game being made at the Polish studio.
Piotr Babieno was speaking to Polish investor news channel Inwestorzy.tv in an interview that has subsequently been taken down, but not before being transcribed by Eurogamer Poland.
Babieno understands why fans have been, at best, mixed on the combat trailer that appeared at PlayStation’s recent State of Play showcase, but he puts the responsibility on Silent Hill publisher and IP owner Konami.
“That is entirely the responsibility of our partner. Certainly, this trailer does not reflect the spirit of the game,” said Babieno, “It is not the spirit of either what it used to be or what we are creating now. We are trying to fully reflect this romantic vision about the game, which debuted 22 years ago.
“We think that when players see the real gameplay, the real game, they will judge it in a completely different way.”
It’s not the first time Bloober Team has directed fans’ ire toward Konami. When pressed about a lack of updates on the Silent Hill 2 remake after its first reveal in 2022, Bloober said it was up to Konami to provide updates.
The choice of Bloober Team as developer of the highly anticipated remake has not been popular with Silent Hill fans despite the involvement of series legends Masahiro Ito and Akira Yamaoka.
