Bandai Namco has finally shared the release date of Sand Land , an action RPG based off Dragonball creator Akira Toriyama’s classic manga—and it’s well within sights.
“In this Action-RPG, you will become the main character Beelzebub, and learn how to control his demonic powers as you lead your company of heroic misfits while exploring the legendary world of SAND LAND,” the game site explains.
The single-player ARPG will be released on April 25, 2024, on Steam, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. There are also three editions available: a Standard Edition, a digital Deluxe Edition with in-game goodies, and a Collectors Edition with some more digital goods and a real-life steelbook.
Sand Land’s story follows a similar premise to many beloved apocalypse wasteland stories, such as Mad Max, in which the protagonist seeks out resources in a desert—in this case, the Legendary Spring—as life becomes harder for the protagonists and those around them.
The gameplay so far promises a flexible, exciting gameplay style. You’ll be able to not only customize your abilities, but also your vehicle as you drive across the deserts to beat up and blow up foes. There are a few types of vehicles, too, depending on if players want to annihilate enemies in a tank or blow past them to the next objects.
Meanwhile, through these journeys, players will need to gather materials that’ll help them overcome obstacles. They’ll also have the chance to do some town-building in order to help the locals and make more resources available.
The video game adaptation of the 23-year-old manga was initially announced during The Game Awards in 2022. A CGI movie adaptation premiered last summer, and there’ll also be a direct-to-streaming
