Saltsea Chronicles journeys across a flooded world later this year
Die Gute Fabrik has announced Saltsea Chronicles, a story driven adventure set on a flooded world that is coming to PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2023.
In Saltsea Chronicles, you take control of a whole ship’s crew. Well, a ship’s crew that is now missing its captain, Maya, and is having to set out across the flooded lands to search for clues and try to find her.
Each chapter, you decide where to go on the adventure, who from the crew to take with you and then the conversations that you have with people on the way.
There’s plenty of conversations to be had as you visit each island, exploring their individual culture while also searching for clues. On Los Gatos, for example, humans and cats live symbiotically – definitely not an island for people who prefer dogs, then. Each island also has its own variation on a card game called Spoils, adding different rules to a game that looks a fair bit like Hearts to me.
In a nice concession to players, you can instantly move back across an island map to catch up on any missed clues.
This looks like a charming journey to embark upon, and has a really lovely and distinctive art style. We look forward to seeing more as it gets closer to release.
