Today, RuneScape launches a new Yak Track, this time called Forthinry Frontier. The team is also adding some quality of life updates, adding ideas from last fall’s game jams, and a new Treasure Hunter beginning tomorrow.
Forthinry Frontier is the big part of this week’s updates, since it’s not only the first Yak Track event of the year, but there are some Fort Forthinry prerequisites, and it’s longer than usual because there are 70 tasks. With those in mind, the timetable for this event is today, February 27th through May 15th. So this will give those who intend to get this track done some time to do it.
Naturally, there are some cosmetics and other rewards for your trouble, especially with a super-sized event. There is, of course, a cape among these rewards. Some of the rest include pets, Forthinry Royal Knight weapons and shields, stars, combat training dummies, titles. The cape this time is the Royal Shoulder Cape (red), though there is an alternate black version you can trade Yak Coins for.
The Yak Coin shop is returning for rewards, including some alternate versions of track rewards. You’ll earn one coin for every five tasks up to 50, and since this event has an additional 20 tasks above that, there will be one coin for every two tasks from 50-70. This time, the shop also has rewards from Yak Track 10.
Other changes this week include a visual update to the Raksha Arena, which has new lighting, along with some updates that follow the Elder Gods War storyline. Some updates from Jagex team game jams include improvements to quests, where the Quest List’s filter is clearer and easier to use, and improvements to several quests themselves. There’s also a new Crafting category under gameplay settings.
