Patch 10.1.7 Restoration Druid Guide
Resto Druid got a few new talents in 10.1.7 and a 6% reduction to all healing in exchange. We should find this to be a roughly equal change, though it does mean you're forced into the new Grove Guardians talent. Thankfully the new talent is both fun to play and fairly impactful. Here's the new stuff:
So the more impactful talking point is how to play with the new mini-trees talent. They last 15 seconds, we get 3 charges and it's on a 20 second cooldown. That means we can be very liberal with our usage and in fact the only way to really play them poorly is to leave them on cooldown too long. Use them to fill in gaps in your healing rotation. If health bars are getting a little low in a dungeon, or if your raid is always dying at the same moment, then popping a few trees there is very likely to be the correct decision.
Note that our new baby trees are not on the global cooldown which means you can cast them at the same time as your other spells. Instead they have a short 0.25s cooldown of their own so if you want to get all three out it'll take you almost a second — a very short time. Grove Guardians do benefit from any mastery stacks we have on our group so they do slightly more raw healing when we pop other big cooldowns but the timing here is much less important than
