During today's Capcom Showcase, a new trailer for the upcoming film Resident Evil Death Island was released, and it also confirmed a Summer 2023 release window and the return of a familiar face.
Resident Evil Death Island is set after the events of Resident Evil 6 and before Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Franchise stalwarts Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield are featured, while today's new trailer also revealed Jill Valentine--sporting her Resident Evil 3 Remake look--will be a part of the story.
The movie follows two separate stories: One where Leon is attempting to rescue a doctor from kidnappers, and another following Chris as he looks into a zombie outbreak in California that leads him to Alcatraz Island. The trailer gives us a glimpse of a few monsters, which include a cage full of swimming bioweapons being released into the sea as well as a woman who pursues Leon during his rescue mission.
The trailer for Resident Evil Death Island was one of the featured announcements during the Capcom Showcase, which also included new information on Mega Man Battle Network Collection, a release date for both Exoprimal and the Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective remaster, and the release of a demo for Resident Evil 4 Remake, which launches in full later this month.
Resident Evil Death Island will release this summer, though the specific release timing and platforms have not yet been announced.
