The Broken Butterfly magnum returns in . It is still the first available magnum for purchase, making it a reliable early boss killer. However, its stats have changed making it sit in a different class than the original 2005 version.
Magnums have a lot of raw firepower, but are slow and typically use rarer ammo. While the Broken Butterfly is fantastic against single tough enemies, it is not the most suited weapon for all situations. Players will also want to highly assess if a shotgun, rifle, or a multitude of grenades are a butter use of the attaché case.

With this new structure of, the Broken Butterfly is now found in the new Chapter 7 — which still represents the Castle area of the older Chapter 3-1. The merchant will start selling the Broken Butterfly for a standard amount of 38,000 Pesetas (the renamed BP currency).
However, the first time he is spoken to the merchant will offer a temporary 30% discount bringing its cost down to 29,400 Pesetas. Those that really want a strong but limited weapon should buy before the price goes back up.
The Broken Butterfly’s stats and performance have also changed. It is a smaller gun, taking up only 3x2 spaces of Leon’s cramped attaché case. The Remake also adjusts the power, reload speed, and firing rate to either higher or lower values. There is also a new stat for the remake — precision — which helps compensates player accuracy with a bit of auto-aim. Each stat can be upgraded independently for further customization.
Fully upgrading the Broken Butterfly will cost a total of 196,000 Pesetas, which can be a hefty investment for just one weapon.
