Update 2: Just in time for the midnight releases of Dragon's Dogma 2 and Rise of the Ronin, PSN is back up and running at full capacity. This includes the PS Store, which seemed to have been hit with the worst issues, stripping the service of functionality for several hours.
Update: The majority of PSN's services seem to now be back on track, with the exception of the PS Store, which is still having issues according to the status webpage. So, unless you're planning on buying yourself a digital game, you should be good to go. We'll update the article again once everything's sorted.
Original Story: It appears that Sony's PlayStation Network is currently experiencing issues. The online network and its associated features and services are seemingly down as of right now. Indeed, the PSN service status webpage has flagged all services in the red, including online play, PS Store, and account management.
Additionally, there are thousands of reports of issues with PSN within the last hour or so on the Down Detector website. We've yet to see direct confirmation from PlayStation itself about the matter, but presumably its staff is currently working on the problems.
