Nintendo is bringing Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games to the Switch its Nintendo Switch Online service, and this has caused some excitement for those fond of Pokemon, and there are a lot of you out there, who wonder if the earliest Pokemon games will be included.
YouTuber Austin John Plays has been wondering if Pokemon Gen 1, 2, and 3 will be coming to the system this year and hopes more info will be announced during the Pokemon Presents within the next ten days. The content creator also mentioned that his programming friend MelonSpeedruns has been testing Pokemon trading on Nintendo Switch Online. And apparently the likes of Pokemon Red/Blue, Yellow, FireRed/LeafGreen, all run "flawlessly" on the Nintendo Switch. But how exactly did MelonSpeedruns determine this?

Austin John Plays explains that by modifying the ROMs within the Nintendo Switch Game Boy apps, you can play the original Pokemon Red and Blue games, along with Gen 1 to 3, on the Nintendo Switch. That's not all, MelonSpeedruns also demonstrated that Pokemon trading works perfectly well on NSO.
Screens showing FireRed running on Nintendo Switch Online on two different Switches demonstrate that Pokemon trading already works. The programmer used a Nintendo Switch emulator to test it all out, but this bodes well for when (or if) Nintendo officially introduces the games onto the service. MelonSpeedruns also showed trading works flawlessly for Pokemon Red too.
