A Pokemon Pearl player managed to get their Ditto to level 100 in the game exclusively through breeding. Ditto first made its debut in the Generation 1 Pokemon games, and it has been a staple in the franchise ever since. Ditto has popped back up in many Pokemon games since its initial debut, with the unique transforming creature available to catch in the Generation 4 Pokemon games Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.
Ditto is highly sought-after by Pokemon fans, mainly because of its uses in Pokemon breeding. Ditto can breed with most Pokemon, which streamlines the breeding process considerably. Pokemon fans have been using Ditto to breed with other Pokemon for decades now, though it's safe to say that it's rare for any Ditto to hit max level strictly through breeding with other Pokemon alone.
But that's exactly what's happened with Reddit user TechnoTrainer's Ditto, with the Pokemon trainer providing video evidence to back up their claims. They said that they begin every Gen 4 playthrough by using Ditto to breed some Pokemon. The Ditto in question was caught on May 13, 2007, so not long after Pokemon Diamond and Pearl first released. This also means that the Ditto is nearly 17 years old, and has finally hit level 100 through breeding.
In most Pokemon games, breeding is a straightforward process. One has to progress far enough to reach that game's take on the Pokemon Daycare, and then they can leave two Pokemon with the hopes that they will breed and produce an egg. The Pokemon breeding process is a bit different in the most recent games, though.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet changes how Pokemon breeding works. Instead of players dropping their Pokemon off at a daycare, breeding happens during Picnics, with players able to feed their Pokemon sandwiches to improve the process. Some fans preferred the changes made to Pokemon breeding in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, though others prefer the classic method.
