The Pokémon Company today announced a new game in the Legends open-world ARPG series of Pokémon games. Titled Pokémon Legends: Z-A and releasing worldwide sometime in 2025, players will return to the Lumiose City in the Kalos region, which made its first appearance in Pokémon X and Y back in 2013.
From what we can tell in the trailer, Lumiose City looks a bit modernized (or even futuristic) but appears to have retained much of its Parisian roots. A hint later in the trailer appears to suggest that Mega Evolutions will return to the series with Z-A, as well.
Game Freak released the first Pokémon Legends title in 2022 with Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which was set in the Hisui region. Arceus introduced new live capture mechanics to the series and a more action based battle system with real-time battles and new Agile and Strong style moves.
Not a whole lot of additional detail on Pokémon Legends: Z-A is available at the moment, but with a 2025 release date we wonder if it might be a launch title for the rumored March 2025 release of the Nintendo Switch 2.
