The Pokemon series is home to many exciting and visually stunning creatures. Perhaps one of the most impressive designs belongs to Gyarados, a Water/Flying-type Pokemon. First introduced in Gen 1, it features a distinct aquatic appearance blended with various serpentine elements. Recently, one fan decided to make an impressive piece of fan art based on a card featuring this Pokemon.
In a post on Reddit, a user known as heyzeushey shared artwork they completed based on the Pokemon series. Specifically, they had managed to make a 3D version of a Dark Gyarados card. The Reddit user showed off the design in a short video, and the results were nothing short of impressive. In addition to replicating the minute details of the Pokemon Trading Card, they added a layer of depth not seen before in the design.
Pokemon Fans Use 3D Printers to Make Huge Gyarados and Onix Figures
Besides showing off the incredible card in a video, heyzeushey provided some details behind the creation process. According to the creator, they used FedEx to print the glossy card stock paper for the project. They then relied on Loctite Ultragel Super Glue to hold the different layers of the card together. In addition, they revealed that double-sided foam tape was needed to keep some of the larger elements of the design in place.
While this 3D Dark Gyarados card was impressive, it was far from the only custom 3D card made by heyzeushey. For those interested in seeing more, the creator has shared multiple 3D designs on Reddit. Some examples of other Pokemon featured in cards made by the creator include Shuckle and Sableye. Each of these cards had a similar level of craftsmanship compared to that seen with the 3D Dark Gyarados card.
