If you're updating your Windows 11 PC, or setting up a new Surface device, you may be able to pass the time with an updated surf version of Microsoft's SkiFree.
The Verge's Tom Warren noticed the option when setting up the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2. It's unclear if this extends to any other PCs; we didn't get it while updating a desktop or Asus laptop today. Warren suggests it's limited to PCs with "outstanding Windows updates available or if you’re restoring settings using Windows Backup."
The same game also made an appearance on the Edge browser a few years ago. But the original SkiFree game dates back to 1991 in the Microsoft Entertainment Pack 3.
If you don't own a Surface laptop or want to play the Microsoft Surf game right away, check out the full game by typing edge://surf/ into Microsoft Edge's address bar.
The Surface Laptop Studio 2, meanwhile, earns our Editors' Choice award for creator laptops. It arrives alongside the Surface Laptop Go 3, though the latter's new features don't justify the price hike it receives over its predecessor. Both, however, can tap into Microsof'ts latest Windows 11 update, which adds Copilot AI, among other things.
