Ankama Games has announced the availability of Wakfu in HD has begun to roll out. With plans for an upcoming single-account server on the way November 2nd, the HD upgrade is here as an option.
Wakfu first launchedback in 2012 and the HD option is a long-standing community request that is finally becoming available. The team released a short teaser with the invitation to “rediscover Wakfu in Hi-Def” and an announcement detailing how to access the graphical upgrade. HD mode is available, but it is currently incomplete. the team will continue working on it until they release everything, but they decided to go ahead and release a starter HD option pack that will have elements like characters and monsters, resources, pets, and mounts in the first round. They say environments are going to be added in a later update.
Using the Ankama Launcher, HD is enabled by default here, but you can disable it and the game will download the standard files. The Steam version is all HD so if you play via Steam, you won't have the option to change.
This piecemeal introduction of HD might be a little disappointing for some, who would prefer that the whole thing were available. Some might also think it would probably look a bit odd for some things to be in HD and some things to be in SD. The team acknowledges all of the feedback about this:
“With regard to interfaces, we hear your feedback and are aware of the issues raised. Improvements to interfaces will not be included in this HD pack; it's an area we're working on bit by bit, as this project can't be properly completed in one go,” they add.
