Ever wished you could play PC games on Android? After all, you can emulate pretty much any other gaming system that ever existed, so why not PC? Well, thanks to Winlator, now you can.
Winlator is a brand new emulator that runs any PC game on your Android device. Well, provided you have a powerful enough device, that is.
Judging from early reports, anything from the PS3 era and backwards should run without a hitch on the latest devices. The Emulation on Android subreddit is full of users showing off a bunch of impossible ports.
The most popular so far seems to be the likes of Oblivion, Fallout 3, Diablo 2, Warcraft 3, and Grand Theft Auto 4. So, if you keep your expectations around that level, you should have a great time.
Winlator uses Wine and Box86/64 to translate PC games onto Android, so, in terms of compatibility, you shouldn’t have too many issues.
After the initial setup, the emulator runs completely offline too. That means you can take your games with you on the go with ease, and even play while flying. That’s rare for a mobile game.
The app is designed for efficiency, too, so you won’t have the same issues you do with other emulators. You know, where they’re complete resource hogs and games run poorly as a result?
It’s also highly customisable, allowing you to tweak your preferred control scheme, performance parameters, game resolution, and much more.
Finally, it features full touchscreen support, so you don’t need to grab a keyboard and mouse just to use it. Sadly, while Winlator does support keyboards, the same can’t be said for a mouse just yet.
You can learn all about it on the official site, and grab the download link. The developer has also put together a handy guide on how to get setup.
