The Elder Scrolls Online Update 39 is now live on PC and Mac, with a series of changes and improvements that affect a number of features in the game, including promised quest and content improvements, improved inventory stacking, PVP death notifications, new achievements, and a whole lot of fixes.
This update is designed for base game improvements, and the team has been discussing their plans to reduce the volume and frequency of quests that are offered to the lowest level characters. In essence, this will level gate some content, but it's designed to improvethe flow of the character journey. Quests from NPCs for the main story, Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, even Battlegrounds, and more, will now have a more gradual release cadence. This should mean everything is less cluttered and overwhelming.
Navigator NPCs are also getting improvements in the update, which include whether those NPCs can transport you to locations that are relevant to your tracked quests. Those quests don't even need to be active, because if you see a door pin above a certain NPC, they'll be able to help you go where you need to go.
This fits in with a lot of games that have been reviewing and revising some of their earlier content in order to make things more accessible and intuitive, especially for new players. Based on feedback, these changes have now arrived on PC and Mac. The console patch for Update 39 will come on September 5th.
The update also improves inventory management, with changes to item types that enable more stacking, including the stock all items option.
