Focus Entertainment is soon to undergo a restructuring that will include changing its name to PulluP Entertainment. In the past, Focus has been known for helping release titles like the popular Plague Tale games, Greedfall, and Vampyr. This won't be the company's first name change, as Focus Entertainment was formerly known as Focus Home Interactive prior to its September 2021 rebrand.
In recent years, Focus Entertainment has been quite a busy publisher. 2022 saw the company publish games like the sci-fi simulator Hardspace: Shipbreaker and the supernatural western third-person action shooter Evil West. Focus also published Asobo Studios' critically acclaimed sequel A Plague Tale: Requiemin 2022, which went on to earn a nomination for Game of the Year at the 2022 Game Awards. A solid 2023 was also in store for the French publisher, as it released Atomic Heart, Warhammer 40,000 Boltgun, Aliens: Dark Descent, and Atlas Fallen.
Now, with a promising slate of 2024 games ahead, Focus Entertainment is shaking things up once again. According to a recent earnings report, Focus has announced that it'll be changing its name to PulluP Entertainment in April. In the same report, Focus acknowledged its failure to meet its third-quarter revenue goals due to its lack of major game releases. The name change will come as part of a broader restructuring consisting of three internal branches: Focus Entertainment Publishing will continue the studios' third-party publishing work, «The Arcade Crew» will work with smaller developers to help publish indie-scale projects, and its seven internal development studios, including The Surge developer Deck13, will make up its aptly named «Studios» branch.
While ultimately unknown, it's possible that Focus' 9% revenue drop for 2023 and its 43% third-quarter plummet have led the company down this new path. Fans of the publisher's games don't seem quite receptive to the new «PulluP» name, though it may take some time for the new moniker to settle in.
